2024 Year in Review

The Juice Spent 2024 Improving Our Platform for Teachers Across Subject Areas

2024 was all about innovation and empowering teachers with The Juice. Our mission to improve literacy and critical thinking skills inspired us to develop features that make teaching with informational texts and current events for students even more effective. This year, we launched new tools for progress monitoring, enhanced our database of articles so teachers of every subject could find articles to anchor their lessons, and made our platform more accessible than ever.

Here’s a look at the updates we made in 2024 to support teachers in every subject, ensuring every student gets the most out of their daily time with The Juice.

Enhanced Data Tracking with Progress Reports

We know how important it is for teachers to have actionable insights into their students’ progress. That’s why we added Progress Reports to the Class Tab.

What’s New?

  • Track Reading Time: Teachers can see how much time students spend reading ELA news articles versus how much time they should be spending, making it easy to see who is reading closely and who is skimming.
  • Adjust Reading Levels: The new Progress Report helps teachers make data-driven decisions to adjust individual student reading levels, ensuring content stays accessible yet challenging. Teachers can individually accept or reject reading level adjustment recommendations or turn on auto-adjust and let our algorithm keep track of student reading levels.
  • Improve Daily Reading Practice: The Progress Report is especially valuable for teachers using The Juice as a formative assessment tool for tracking progress on reading standards. Teachers can use the Progress Report to track what percent of comprehension questions students are answering correctly.

Content Tags for Science Include:

  • Earth & Space: Articles on climate change, space exploration, and geological events.
  • Engineering: Content highlighting innovation and problem-solving in technology.
  • Life Science: Dive into biology topics like ecosystems, genetics, and medical advancements.
  • Physics: Explore articles about energy, forces, and the physical laws of nature.

These tags make it easier for educators to combine news for students with hands-on STEM activities for deeper engagement.

Making math relevant to students just got easier. Our math content tags connect math concepts to everyday situations through informational texts and current events for students.

Content Tags for Math Include:

  • Reasoning Mathematically: Articles that challenge students to solve real-world problems.
  • Representing Data: Visual aids like graphs and charts to support teaching newspaper headlines with data analysis.
